TITAN® Platform

TITAN® Architecture

Signaling protocols underpin the operation of all generations of telecom networks, be they fixed line, 2G, 3G, 4G, or 5G.

As networks grow increasingly complex, and as new generations of network technology are layered onto existing legacy technologies, signaling load can grow faster than user traffic itself.

Carriers must find ever smarter ways to deal with this increasing complexity while preserving the operation of the legacy networks that continue to terminate most of the revenue-generating services.

TITANIUM® TITAN®

The industry’s most robust and widely deployed answer to this problem. TITAN’s Centralized Signaling and Routing Control (CSRC) capabilities provide a common, virtualized infrastructure that can deal effectively with all the signaling control, routing policy and subscriber database services that are being newly added to the network or that are already present in the network.

TITAN represents a paradigm shift for building a radically simplified core network. In the past unique protocols and their applications equated to unique single purpose platforms.

With TITAN, all signaling protocols (SS7, SIGTRAN, SIP, ENUM/DNS, DIAMETER, RADIUS and more) and all associated services (Number Portability, STP, SIP Routing, Diameter routing, Toll Free, Signaling Firewall and many more) are provided on one common platform.

Using TITAN, multiple “silos” of network technology can be collapsed together, centralizing and simplifying network topology, easing service interworking and dramatically reducing network OPEX.

TITANIUM® Delivers

TITAN’s unique value proposition is attested to by the market itself. Today, TITAN is deployed at more than 250 carriers across the globe, including all of the world’s top ten service providers.

  • Ongoing “All G” signaling support. With the slow transition to next-generation network architectures, most carriers will need to provision, operate and manage their converged networks for the next 15-20 years, simultaneously operating and managing all generations (“All G”) of signaling technology for the foreseeable future. TITAN enables smooth interworking between legacy and emerging network services as well as their associated signaling protocols. While many vendors are choosing to end-of-life products like STP for legacy protocols, TITANIUM is committed to supporting these products and protocols throughout the lengthy transition to next-generation networks.

  • Centralized high speed database and provisioning. TITANIUM is the only vendor to integrate a scalable and distributed in-memory database into its underlying telecom application platform (TITAN). This enables TITAN to serve as a central point of provisioning for subscriber data and provide real-time distribution of that data to a constellation of geographically distributed edge servers. TITAN’s high scalability and high performance ensures that it can handle any size subscriber base, allowing it to support even the largest networks.

  • Large catalog of standard telecom applications. If TITAN’s signaling and database capabilities make it sound like the perfect platform for telecom application development, that’s because it is. Based on the TITAN platform, TITANIUM has developed an impressive set of telecom core network applications, including STP, DSC, SIP Router (SRE), HLR, HSS, ENUM/DNS, Global Number Portability, EIR, Ut_Proxy and many more.

  • Fully bespoke application development. If “standard” telecom applications such as the above are not enough, TITAN can still help. Each network evolves in step with its history and the market forces operating upon it. As a result, many networks end up with unique needs as they seek to simplify existing service infrastructures and/or deploy new technologies to meet competitive pressures. TITANIUM can help meet these needs with its Customer Defined Application (CDA) market offer, based on the TITAN protocol enriched telecom service application platform.TITAN’s extensive protocol support, expansive and high speed in-memory database, peerless reliability and wide array of flexible deployment options combines with TITANIUM’s highly skilled CDA development team to enable customers to define any service flow, any protocol interworking and any database structure, and see it realized and in-service in their network.

  • Flexible Deployment Architectures. A single TITAN installation can be as small as a two server appliance or as large as a multinational “n” site deployment, where “n” can range from “two” up through very large numbers. TITAN enables this flexibility through the use of Master and Edge server types, where a small number of Masters typically deal with centralized provisioning and data distribution to the Edges, while a larger number of Edges provide horizontal scaling and the high speed, high capacity execution environment used by the applications deployed on TITAN.

  • Flexible Service Topologies. TITAN supports several different fundamental service topologies:
    • Full Onsite Deployment. In this topology, the customer purchases and deploys TITAN physical or virtual servers and provides first tier support services. TITANIUM provides 24x7x364 Tier-2 and Tier-3 technical support. TITAN is integrated into the customer’s local network management infrastructure and is managed by the customer OSS systems.
The customer may choose to deploy TITAN on:
      • COTS Hardware: Deployed on TITANIUM-supplied HP DL 360 or DL 380 servers.
      • Virtual Deployment: Deployed as network applications onto an existing hypervisor and hardware layer at the customer site. Supported hypervisors include VMWare and KVM.

  • Hybrid Onsite and Cloud Services. In this topology, the customer purchases on site TITAN servers and applications which in turn interwork with data services located at TITANIUM’s cloud service centers. Examples of this service topology include Number Portability, Toll Free and Guaranteed Caller STIR/SHAKEN.

  • Pure Cloud Services. In this topology, TITAN is not involved at all. The customer does not purchase any TITAN servers and instead accesses routing and data services via queries into the TITANIUM cloud service centers from existing network elements. This topology is typically associated with carriers who are looking for global data services, rather than on site deployments, to solve specific routing challenges.
